Returns, Refunds, Warranty, Shipping & Cancellation Policy
Buyza is committed to providing customers with a clear, fair and transparent shopping experience.
This policy explains how returns, refunds, cancellations, warranties and delivery work when purchasing products from Buyza.
Nothing in this policy is intended to remove or limit any consumer right that cannot legally be excluded under applicable South African law.
1. Returns
Customers may request a return through their Buyza account or by contacting Buyza Support.
For voluntary returns, Buyza accepts eligible requests made within 7 days of delivery, subject to the conditions below.
This voluntary 7-day return period does not replace or limit any statutory consumer rights that may apply to the transaction.
Where a statutory cooling-off right or other legal return right applies, the applicable legal period and requirements will apply.
2. Online Cooling-Off Rights
Certain electronic transactions may qualify for a cooling-off period under the Electronic Communications and Transactions Act 25 of 2002.
Where section 44 of ECTA applies, a consumer may cancel a qualifying transaction for goods within 7 days after receiving the goods without giving a reason and without penalty, subject to the requirements and exclusions provided by law.
Where applicable, the direct cost of returning the goods may be payable by the consumer.
Buyza will process valid refunds in accordance with the applicable legal requirements.
3. Product Condition for Voluntary Returns
Where a voluntary return is requested, the product should be returned in the condition in which it was received.
Where reasonably applicable:
- The product must not have been intentionally damaged.
- Accessories supplied with the product should be returned.
- Original packaging should be returned where available and reasonably required.
- Product labels, serial numbers or identifying marks must not have been removed or altered.
- The customer should provide the order number and reason for the return.
Buyza may inspect returned products before processing a voluntary return.
These requirements do not limit statutory rights relating to defective, unsafe or unsuitable goods.
4. Incorrect Product
If Buyza supplies the wrong product, wrong model, wrong variant or materially different product from what was ordered, please contact Buyza as soon as reasonably possible.
Buyza will investigate the order and product information.
Where Buyza supplied the incorrect product, Buyza will work with the customer to arrange the appropriate remedy, which may include replacement or refund, subject to applicable law.
5. Damaged on Delivery
If a product appears damaged when delivered, customers should contact Buyza as soon as reasonably possible.
Customers are encouraged to provide:
- Order number
- Photographs of the product
- Photographs of the packaging
- Description of the damage
Buyza will investigate the issue and determine the appropriate remedy.
A customer should not attempt an unauthorised repair before contacting Buyza where the issue may be covered by warranty.
6. Defective or Poor-Quality Products
Buyza recognises that statutory consumer rights may apply where goods are defective, unsafe, not of good quality, not in good working order, or otherwise fail to meet applicable legal requirements.
The Consumer Protection Act provides an implied warranty framework for qualifying goods, including a six-month period in section 56, subject to the Act and its requirements.
Where a qualifying statutory warranty claim applies, Buyza will provide the remedy required by applicable law.
Depending on the circumstances, the remedy may include repair, replacement or refund.
7. Physical and Accidental Damage
Physical or accidental damage caused after delivery may not be covered by a supplier or manufacturer warranty.
Examples may include:
- Cracked screens
- Broken ports
- Damage caused by drops
- Crushing or impact damage
- Damage caused by misuse
- Unauthorised repairs
- Unauthorised modifications
- Liquid or water damage where excluded by the applicable warranty
- Damage caused contrary to product instructions
However, nothing in this section removes any statutory rights that may apply where the problem existed at the time of supply or where otherwise required by law.
8. Pre-Owned Products
Pre-owned products may have different warranty terms from new products.
The product listing will identify the condition of the product and, where applicable, the warranty provided by the relevant supplier or manufacturer.
Buyza will not describe a pre-owned product as new.
Where applicable, Buyza may record the product's serial number or IMEI internally for warranty and order verification purposes.
9. Supplier Warranty
Where a product is sold with a supplier warranty, the applicable warranty period and terms will be displayed on the product listing where known.
For example:
- 6-Month Supplier Warranty
The exact warranty terms, exclusions and process may depend on the supplier or manufacturer.
Customers should contact Buyza before sending a product for warranty assessment.
10. Refund Process
When a refund is approved, Buyza will record:
- Order number
- Refund amount
- Reason
- Refund status
- Date processed
- Person responsible for processing
Refunds will normally be made using the original payment method where reasonably possible and subject to the applicable payment provider's procedures.
Buyza will not mark a refund as completed until the refund has actually been processed.
11. Refund Timing
Refund processing times may depend on:
- Buyza's processing time
- Payment provider
- Bank
- Public holidays
- Financial institution processing times
Where South African law specifies a refund period, that legal requirement will apply.
12. Order Cancellation Before Fulfilment
Customers may request cancellation before an order has been fulfilled.
Cancellation requests should include the order number.
Buyza will review the order status and determine whether cancellation is still possible.
If an order has already progressed to sourcing, fulfilment, dispatch or another stage where cancellation is restricted, Buyza will explain the available options.
Nothing in this section limits any statutory cancellation rights.
13. Products That Are Unavailable
If Buyza is unable to supply an ordered product because it is unavailable, Buyza will notify the customer as soon as reasonably possible.
Where applicable, the customer may receive a refund or another remedy required by law.
14. Returns Process
To request a return:
- Log into your Buyza account.
- Open My Orders.
- Select the relevant order.
- Select Request a refund where available.
- Select the reason.
- Provide the required information.
- Upload photographs where requested.
- Submit the request.
Buyza will review the request and provide the next steps.
Where a request is accepted, Buyza arranges a courier to collect the order from you. The order is then checked at our warehouse before the refund is approved.
15. Inspection
Where appropriate, returned products may be inspected before a voluntary return or warranty remedy is finalised.
Inspection does not remove statutory consumer rights.
16. Refunds for Shipping
The treatment of shipping charges will depend on the reason for the return and the applicable law.
Where Buyza is responsible for supplying the wrong product or another issue requiring Buyza to bear return costs, Buyza will arrange the appropriate remedy.
Where a customer exercises a voluntary return right and applicable law allows the direct return cost to be charged to the customer, that cost may apply.

Where this policy conflicts with a mandatory legal requirement, the applicable law will prevail.
